Hangover Square Re-released

Cherry Red Records have now re-released the debut album by The Caretaker Race entitled Hangover Square. The Album was produced by Smiths/Blur producer Stephen Street. It was originally released in 1991 on The Foundation Label.

The Foundation Label was set up by Stephen Street who produced albums by Smiths, Blur and The Cranberries. Other acts on The Foundation label were Bradford and Spin (who later became Gene).

I played guitar on this album and it was recorded at The Greenhouse Studios in Old Street, London. The same studio where The House of Love recorded their debut album. While we were recording Pop Will Eat Itself were in the studio upstairs so I got to meet them a few times.

The album was mixed at Island Records Studios over in Chiswick over a 5 day period and was released around September 1991 and got to number 37 in the independent charts.
