I can't believe that I haven't updated this page since April 2013 I've certainly been keeping busy.
The High-s have certainly been occupied with some very packed out gigs notably at the Black Horse in Greenford. A great night gigging with the Ska covers band, hometown Hi-Fi. The landlord had his busiest night of the year.
During June I had a half hour slot performing Beatles acoustic songs at Radnor Gardens in Twickenham. The day was a bit rainy but as soon as I played "Here comes The Sun" miraculously the sun did come out!
A slot at the Daytripper Weekender Beatles Festival in Prestatyn followed a couple of weeks later.
The Caretaker Race reunion saw gigs at the Water Rats in Kings Cross and the Sunset Ridge festival during July. It was good to catch up with Andy Strickland and Dave Mew after all these years. We played the songs like it was yesterday plus there's some videos of the gigs on You Tube.
The High-s returned in Mid -July with a slot at the Surrey Heath Music Makers Scooter Festival in Camberley. Good to see all the scooters parked around us as we played.
I Finally got to play at Jagz in Ascot during August. I always wondered what that venue was like. Nice upstairs venue. The crowd was a bit sparse but the hordes of "Paparazzi" photographers made up for it, taking shots as we played!
Another legendary High-s gig took place at the Sun Inn at Englefield Green at the end of August. Another packed venue with a highly responsive crowd, thanks to the dancers. The last High-s gig was at the Fox and Duck in Petersham in mid-September showcasing a couple of new songs including Eton Rifles by the Jam.
That just leaves the future gigs. The High-s will be playing at the Brookhouse Pub in Hayes on Saturday 12th October 2013 and back to the Sun Inn on Saturday 9th November 2013.
The Bitter Springs have started to record their next album at a studio in Brixton, London. The last weekend saw another 4 songs being recorded in record time.
The Traditional Springs Xmas gig will again be at St.Pauls' Church in Brentford, Middlesex on Saturday 7th December 2013. This will be Violinist Phil Martins' final gig with the Springs before he relocates to Whitby. Talking of which Phils' new album, "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" has just been released and which I played bass on 3 of the songs.
