Is Vic There?

I think he he is! The mini-tour with Vic Godard and The Bitter Springs is almost at an end. I've just got one more gig to go on Sunday night (24th October) at The Amersham Arms in New Cross.
Recently, I've been to The Musician in Leicester, (great kebab shop at the end of the road!) The Green Door Store in Brighton (Where I was late onstage for the Springs, turning up halfway through their set). The Music Hall in Ramsgate. (excellent fish and chips) and The Lexington (was officially a Springs gig but Vic turned up anyway.)
All of the venues that we visited were well run from a musicians perspective. All of the soundmen were great at what they did and we sounded fantastic each night.

I'm gearing up for another solo gig in BRIGHTON on THURSDAY 5th OCTOBER at HOTEL PELIROCCO on REGENCY SQUARE as a guest of top mod band PROPER. It looks like quite a swish venue and it's FREE to get in. I was originally going to do it solo acoustic, but now I've been asked to bring the band as well.

Charity Football Match Gig

My next gig is on Sunday 20th August 2017. It will be at the Perrywood Sports Ground, Honeycrock Lane, Redhill. Surrey. RH1 5JP. It's a charity football match which kicks off at Midday. I won't be playing in the football match, I'll be performing with the full Andrew Deevey Experience band.

I've managed to get a gig in Brighton on Thursday 5th of October at Pelirocco on Regency Square. It's a support slot for Proper so it's just an acoustic set.

I'm having a quick break from recording as the studio owner is on holiday so I should be resuming mid-September. All the band stuff is done. All that's left to do are vocals, lead guitars, accordian, trumpet and keyboards, then it's onto mixing.

Andy's First Solo Gig

It looks like I've got my first ever solo gig. SUNDAY 4th JUNE 2017 at the OATLANDS PARK WORKING MENS CLUB, 75 St. Mary's Road, WEYBRIDGE. SURREY KT13 9PZ.

It's a great way to spend an afternoon. Usually there's a good crowd and they dress in their mod finery. Plus a few scooter clubs turn up to show off their scooters. There is reserved parking for the scooters. Plus there's a barbecue too.

I've been working on songs for an album and got sidetracked into doing a couple of gigs and this is the first. It's at MIKE THOMPSON's LAZY SUNDAY AFTERNOON club over in WEYBRIDGE. I'll be on the same bill as THE SHA LA LA's - a truly great MOD band with a Northern Soul feel to them.

I've got an 11 song set all ready, some of which have been recorded over at ONE CAT STUDIOS over in BRIXTON. I just need one more all day session and I'll have the bulk of the work recorded.

The Bitter Springs @ The Lexington

I know it's been a while and I haven't been looking after this blog as much as I should. It's been a busy time time though. Last Saturday I was with THE BITTER SPRINGS at The Lexington in Islington supporting THE MONOCHROME SET. Great gig to be involved in and a great crowd turnout too.

Andy Solo is progressing well. I've been in the studio a couple of times. 5th February and 2nd April to be precise. The first session I recorded the backing for Money Can't Buy Me Love, It's Over, What I Wanna Do and Moving To The Country. The next session saw the recording of My Soul is on Fire, Every Street in Every Town, Every Step of the Way and I'm So Glad. I'm aiming to do another session in early June. I've been touting for live gigs as well, so I'll be playing locally soon. I'll be playing at THE NONSUCH TOWN AND COUNTRY SHOW on SATURDAY 24th JUNE at 2pm with a full band and THE HINDHEAD MUSIC FESTIVAL on SATURDAY 15th JULY as a solo performer.

Studio This Week

Just one more rehearsal this week with bass and drums (or should it be drum'n'bass!!) then a day in the studio to record 4 songs!
The songs are complete and I've done a few open mic gigs to bash them into shape. The songs have been received well. I didn't do the full week of open mic gigs as planned - I came down with a cold on the Wednesday.
But, all in all, I've now done 10 open mic gigs since October and that's something I wanted to do. The video you can see here is "Moving To The Country" from the Tuesday open mic at The Swan in Hampton Wick. It's the first video of me taken so far.
